Sept. 5, 2017 – As part of its support for energy education and information in the Uintah Basin, TransWest Express LLC once again was among the sponsors of the annual Uintah Basin Energy Summit, held Aug. 30-31 in Vernal. It was TransWest's third year of participation and sponsorship.
TransWest representatives updated county officials, state officials and other attendees about the planned TransWest Express Transmission Project, an HVDC electricity transmission line that will cross about 100 miles of Uintah County and Duchesne County, primarily co-located with existing transmission lines. The TWE Project construction will create hundreds of jobs along the route, and pre-construction activities such as surveying and land title research are also supporting jobs in the Uintah Basin. Once built, the TWE Project will pay significant property taxes in every county that it crosses.
Utah's Governor Gary Herbert, Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox, and Energy Office executive director Dr. Laura Nelson were among the speakers. According to the Uintah Basin Standard, "the two-day event was held before a packed house at the Uintah Conference Center."
