TWE completes WECC Phase 1 report, schedules review for Oct. 19
Oct. 5, 2009 - Meeting another milestone in the WECC rating process, TransWest Express LLC today has submitted its TransWest Express Transmission Project: Phase 1 Comprehensive Progress Report, which addresses all requirements to complete Phase 1 of the process.
As outlined in a letter sent to WECC (Western Electricity Coordinating Council) today, WECC members will have 60 days to provide comment on the report.
In addition, TransWest Express LLC will hold a meeting in Denver that also will be broadcast as a Webinar on Oct. 19 to present the report to WECC members and answer questions. To register for the meeting or Webinar, WECC members should e-mail their name, company name and WECC member number to Sandy Patchen, who will respond with Webinar access information.
The TransWest Express Transmission Project is a 600 kV high-voltage, direct-current transmission line that will connect to the existing WECC transmission grid in south-central Wyoming and southeastern Nevada. The Comprehensive Progress Report supports a Planned Rating of 3,000 megawatts.
The Western Electricity Coordinating Council’s rating process ensures that new projects are properly integrated into the existing transmission grid to enhance the overall reliability of the grid. The WECC rating process for the TWE Project was initiated in 2008.
At the same time as submitting its Comprehensive Progress Report, TransWest Express LLC has requested that its transmission project be accepted to continue into Phase 2 of the Rating Review Process.
